Punch Skin Biopsy
Skin biopsy is a technique used to remove a skin lesion. The tissue sample is sent to a laboratory for microscopic diagnosis by a pathologist with results normally available in 5 - 8 days.
The type of biopsy exampled in this video is a Punch biopsy. A very small circular core of tissue is obtained during the procedure. A circular blade is rotated into the epidermis, dermis and subcutaneous fat of the area of the lesion to obtain the tissue sample under a local anesthetic. The incision is easily closed with 1 to 2 sutures. No to minimal pain is involved following the procedure.
This is just one example of the many procedures included in your monthly membership fee. Elsewhere you would be billed for the office visit, the biopsy procedure, anesthetic, sutures, tools, and more.
